District Directors Visit

Last Sunday, Miss Hooper and Miss Pearce came out to check out the school. It was a great afternoon that included a tour of the school (by Deputy and Principal - Miss Putland and Miss Telfer), a little bit of information about how we got to be here, what we hope for the future and last but not least an afternoon tea and small performance (we sang the school song) in the library. It was so much fun that we now think back and ask, why were we screaming our heads off with nerves as they were driving down the driveway? Thanks and a big well done to everyone involved! Here some photos (they can tell the rest of the story)...

The Ivory Rose

Each week, we buy Tuesday's West Australian newspaper and from the ED! section enter the book competition for the chance to win an interesting book for our school library. We've done this for quite some time, each time hoping "maybe this time", but it wasn't until this afternoon we received a package... from ED! And inside was the novel The Ivory Rose! It was such a surprise because even though every time we hope, we didn't ever think it would happen! We now have another book to join our school library... :)

'at' words

Today in the Early Childhood Classroom at WPIPS we were learning about words that end in 'at'. We all tried to think of words ending with 'at' and in the end we came up with 11 words! These were: bat, cat, sat, fat, mat, pat, hat, rat and even some words with 4 letters: chat, that and flat. Then we wrote the words onto balloons and had lots of fun playing with them and sounding them out. We put them into groups - if it is something you can touch or if it is something you can do. Our touching words (nouns) were: mat, hat, rat, bat and cat. Our doing words (verbs) were: pat, sat and chat. Then there were some left over, we learnt that these were describing words (adjectives). "that' was a very tricky word though and didn't fit into any of these groups! We had lots of fun!

Do you know some more 'at' words? We'd love you to comment with your ideas!
