'at' words

Today in the Early Childhood Classroom at WPIPS we were learning about words that end in 'at'. We all tried to think of words ending with 'at' and in the end we came up with 11 words! These were: bat, cat, sat, fat, mat, pat, hat, rat and even some words with 4 letters: chat, that and flat. Then we wrote the words onto balloons and had lots of fun playing with them and sounding them out. We put them into groups - if it is something you can touch or if it is something you can do. Our touching words (nouns) were: mat, hat, rat, bat and cat. Our doing words (verbs) were: pat, sat and chat. Then there were some left over, we learnt that these were describing words (adjectives). "that' was a very tricky word though and didn't fit into any of these groups! We had lots of fun!

Do you know some more 'at' words? We'd love you to comment with your ideas!
